The Brief
Although we still tend to associate Geest with bananas, they actually sold this part of their business many years ago. Their current success is due to their high quality production of ready prepared salads and recipe dish meals for the UK’s top supermarket chains.
Despite running a very profitable business, the company were unhappy with the turnover of staff within the factory and finance divisions. Having carried out research into the causes, the most commonly cited reasons for leaving were a perceived lack of leadership and few development opportunities. The company accepted that they needed to invest more in their valuable human resource . . . they had forgotten to ‘sharpen their saw’.
The Solution
So, in consultation with the HR department, we designed a coaching solution to reverse these trends. Working with managers and team leaders from both divisions, we provided a programme suitable for each unique environment. These consisted of a series of workshops interspersed with one-to-one coaching on the job. We also instigated a ‘buddy’ system of coaching to continue the learning, following our departure.
