The Brief
In business, where ‘time is money’, improving productivity comes from developing each individual’s capabilities to manage priorities. We were asked to design a programme for Mercer Human Resource Consulting that would be relevant to a wide range of professionals, including some very demanding specialists, such as actuaries.
In this intensive consultancy and project-based environment, the delegates must not only be effective managers of their own time and work streams, but often need to organise and plan for the needs of their manager and team.
The Solution
As well as reviewing and developing effective systems to prioritise their time on key result areas, the course emphasised the skills and techniques needed for managing interruptions and having the confidence to say "no", when appropriate.
With the majority of the delegates having a requirement to log time against specific tasks or projects, this has provided a robust means of measuring improvement.
