The Brief
Having already provided a number of courses for the British Standards Institute, we were asked to develop a programme for both their new and existing managers. The main concern of the programme sponsor was that it should have a balanced agenda. In other words, whilst processes are important, equally the ‘people’ element of managing should be explored.
The Solution
With this in mind, we developed a framework which focused upon three elements: Managing Systems, Managing Yourself and Managing Others. These were delivered as a series of facilitated workshops, interspersed with ‘on the job’ projects.
Even the seasoned managers professed to needing help with motivation, especially in an environment subject to constant change. Participating in a series of simulations and exercises helped delegates to investigate and understand their own emotions when outside their personal ‘comfort zone’, and how this awareness could be transferred into the workplace. Finally, using the technologies of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and EI (Emotional Intelligence) we left delegates with new ‘tools in their kitbag’ to tackle even the most challenging members of their teams.
