The Brief
3M wanted their annual Sales Conference in York to be decidedly different, challenging, action packed and great fun. By combining our knowledge of theatre, adventure and motivational training we injected energy and promoted teamwork in . . . 'The Jorvik Challenge!'

The Solution
Communicate became involved, organising a themed invitation that summoned the delegates to join their fellow Vikings on board the longboat 'Knorr' to sail for England, under the command of 'Haegar the Horrible'. Their mission was to plunder treasure from the Saxons for the wealth of their Viking Nation.

First, they needed to seek the blessing of Odin, the God of Battle. To receive Odin’s blessing they were required to complete a magic runic jigsaw and prove their skills in negotiation. They did this by solving clues which lay hidden in the walled city of York and persuading ‘strangers’ to assist them in their quest. Using their plunder, the Vikings then worked in teams with a professional actor to put together an improvised show depicting their saga.

After much revelry and celebration the Vikings ate, drank and made merry, ready to be entertained by the team of improvisation actors. They performed in their unique and inimitable style, in what was the final feat in a very entertaining and memorable occasion.
